Once children have received their First Communion, and completed Levels 4 and 5 of our "Faith First" program, they are ready for their Confirmation Preparation classes in Level 6. It is through confirmation that we receive the Holy Spirit, as we confirm our desire to be Catholic and our commitment to live as a Christian with faith, love and service to one another.
The Sacramental Preparation classes take place during weeknights -- once every 2 weeks from January to May for a total of 10, 1 hour classes. When registering, parents will be able to choose the day of the week that works best for their child.
The program also includes sessions for the parents to allow them to journey with their children with a full understanding of the significance of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Children must attend mass 2 times per month during their preparation and have their books signed after mass so that they have the opportunity to see and meet the people of the parish and become familiar with the traditions and procedures of the mass, and of our parish in particular. They may attend either the Saturday afternoon masses at the parish centre at 4pm or Sunday morning masses at the church at 9am.
Finally, in order to fulfill the requirements of their Confirmation preparation, children must attend Ash Wednesday Mass as well as the rehearsal for their ceremony and the Confirmation ceremony with the Bishop which generally takes place the first Sunday in June.
Registration for Confirmation (Level 6) will take place from November 1 to 15 on this website. Note that only children who have completed 2 years of Faith Education may register.
The fee is $150 payable at the time of registration.
Note: If you are interested in Confirmation, but your child has not completed "Be My Disciples" Classes Levels 4 and 5, you will need to register them for "Be My Disciples" Level 4 here from August 15 to September 15.
